I have been a nurse practitioner since 2018 working for corporate adult medicine. It was exhausting, and nobody was ever healed. Fast-forward, I had my daughter and moved to Florida, and the trend was of course the same here. I was seeing too many patients that had incomplete blood work done and weren’t even getting a proper follow up. I initially opened my practice - Apex Health Functional Wellness - as a direct primary care practice. A lot of the patients that I had were perimenopausal or dealing with PCOS, Hashimoto’s and thyroid issues. I then transitioned into being functional health with the focus on sex hormones and thyroid, for men and women. It’s been an incredible journey, to do something I never thought was possible! I will be open three years in July and just hired my first nurse practitioner.

Founder, Apex Health Functional Wellness
This is the most rewarding job that I have had because I can actually see the difference and improvement quality of life for my patients who become like family. This next season for the business is more growth, since I’ve added another practitioner!
My daughter is four years old and wants to do everything that I do. It has started to become a challenge because I usually finish my charts at home, but when I’m on the computer, she says things like “ I need to check my email,” and brings out her little tablet. It might sound cute, but I don’t like that. She sees me on a form of technology all the time. That has been the most challenging part to stop working when I’m with her. But it’s also great because I can see that she is noticing every little thing. This business has given me the ability to create my own schedule and be more present for her so I can take her to gymnastics in the middle of the week or take her to Disney. In this day and age, I am so glad that I can be present and a strong role model for my own daughter!
